There are two secrets to know before you buy a stylus…

 January 19, 2012
By Winston Wolfe "I solve problems."

The first secret to all “modern” touchscreens is in how you address the stylus. What? You mean I have to say “Pretty please to it?”. No, but understand that due to the non-durable nature of the capacitive touchscreen (iPad, smartphones, etc.) the tip has to be soft. Treat the stylus like a small, soft-tipped paint brush and stroke the screen versus pushing down to try to write. If someone is complaining that the tip is collapsing or they tore the tip off quickly, they are trying to write with the stylus versus stroking the screen. Try this now. Look at your hand holding a pen. Now hold the pen with the back pointing to your left or right as you would when you stroke paint brush so you can see what you are painting. That is the secret in addressing the stylus.

The second secret is not obvious until you purchase a stylus and then it is too late. Let my mistakes with previous purchases benefit you as no stylus maker will tell you this, BUT this Cosmos stylus has the second secret. Most styli (is that the plural?) have a shiny and smooth tip. These grip your touchscreen and are fine for navigation or playing games. If you want to draw/paint the screen you need the stylus to glide. This stylus set has a mat finish that very nicely glides across the screen with smooth strokes and no skipping.

Not a secret, but I will part with my last bit of advice. Soft tip styli do not last. Three to six months of daily use and they are done. Not much use in spending a lot of money on a product that is disposable if it does not work any better than these.

This three pack for seven dollars gets my vote for one of the best deals on Amazon.

These work great.

I bought a stylus at Best Buy for $15.00 when I bought my IPAD a year ago. It worked fine. I bought these three for $6.00 and they work even better.

COSMOS stylus

This stylus works really good on my ipad2. It’s very responsive and it writes really good on my writing apps. I’m glad I ordered the 3 piece set, so that way I have extras. It also arrived on time with the correct colors and amount of pens.

Works great!!!!

Skeptical of how cheap they are BUT they are working great! If I lose one I have two others SO worth the money ;)

Works Perfectly with Kindle Fire!

These are a great value compared to comparable styli for capacitive tablets. This is my first such stylus, and I was hesitant to order these, but I’m glad I did. They look nice, appear to be of good quality (time will be the final judge), work smoothly with the Kindle Fire, and the price is right! For those who want to know, I estimate the width of the stylus from side to side to be approximately 7.5 to 8 mm. Wider than some, but the way the stylus comes up in the middle, it gives excellent control. The diameter of the pen itself is about .9 mm, and the whole pen is about 4.75 inches long. Just right for me!

Nice but clip is plastic and breaks easily

The stylus itself is great and glides smoothly and easily over my Kindle Fire screen. It was just what I was looking for, especially for the price. But you get what you pay for…. the clip that is attached is plastic and broke within 2 days of using it when I pulled it out of the holder of my case. I hadn’t paid attention to the fact that the clip was not metal until this happened. Disappointing that I can’t really use that stylus now because I’m afraid the sharp edges of the break will scratch my screen when in the case.
While I do think the 3 pack is a good value, just be careful of the clip!

I was doubtful, but they really work!

Tip is rubberized and soft, so you don’t feel like you’re scratching your iPad. I do not have a screen protector on my iPad, so I can not comment if it is smooth on that surface as well. I have not yet used it for handwriting recognition, but could annotate PDFs easily. Length is good – fits comfortably in the hand. If you need a stylus, I would recommend this.

Perfect stylus for the perfect price

Works great on all my touch screen items. I have tried it on an iPad, iPhone, HTC Inspire, and a MacBook trackpad.
They stylus feels great in your hands it looks beautiful and works great. It isn’t as long as a pen; it is a decent length and it isn’t too thick or too thin.
Product is well worth the price! Enough styluses for the whole family!
